University housing often serves as the backdrop for late-night study marathons, developing lasting friendships and gorging on pizza—lots of pizza—making it a popular place to live when students are far from home. According to the National Retail Federation (NRF), 31 percent of college students will live in a dorm room or college housing, this year. That’s the highest in the survey’s history. The rising number of students choosing to live on campus may point to a growing trend that helps them transition from living under their parent’s roof to living on their own.
