June 27, 2013

Clark Atlanta University has announced that it has entered into an agreement with Barnes & Noble College to manage and operate the school’s bookstore. The bookstore will be closed, beginning July 8, to transition to new management, and will reopen on July 15.

Clark Atlanta University President Carlton E. Brown says the University eagerly anticipates this new partnership. “Barnes and Noble is a national leader not only in providing an unparalleled retail experience, but their long-standing celebration of the literary tradition, their expansive catalog of titles and the manner in which they have embraced technology and made it accessible to a cross-section of readers aligns perfectly with Clark Atlanta University’s focus on educational engagement, research and discovery.  I am confident,” Brown added, “that this relationship will serve our campus community, as well as the broader community, particularly well.”

Bringing What’s Next

Clark Atlanta University students will enjoy a campus bookstore that reflects the Clark Atlanta brand, including a wide selection of school spirit apparel, technology gadgets, as well as gifts for alumni, friends and family. Course materials will be offered in variety of cost-saving options including rental, digital, used and new formats, ensuring students have access to the options that best suit their needs. Faculty will also have access to a groundbreaking online community, FacultyEnlight, a streamlined textbook adoption platform that combines advanced search capabilities with detailed information on course material formats, pricing and reviews by other faculty.

Students will also benefit from the new partnership with opportunities to participate in the company’s GenNext Panel. The GenNext Panel is a national, online student insight panel, designed to provide students an opportunity to share their opinions on course material needs and emerging trends on campus to help Barnes & Noble College ensure products and services deliver the utmost value to the student community.

“We’re very proud to have formed this new partnership with a university that has a long tradition of excellence characterized by a focus on the intellectual and personal development of each student,” said Max J. Roberts, President & CEO, Barnes & Noble College. “We’re fully committed to providing the Clark Atlanta University campus with a strong and thriving bookstore, dedicated to providing the latest in educational content and technology and an unmatched retail experience.”

Smooth Transition

The new Barnes & Noble College campus bookstore team will work closely with the Clark Atlanta University community to establish a strong social media presence on Facebook that reflects local events and promotions. In addition, the new bookstore team will reach out to both faculty and student organizations to ensure these groups are able to leverage the full resources the new bookstore team has to offer.

Barnes & Noble College is committed to a smooth and successful transition for the Clark Atlanta University Bookstore. Its knowledgeable and experienced transition team has handled countless bookstore changeovers using processes and procedures that work effectively in making the transition as simple as possible – without undue interruptions for students and faculty.
