Learn what Next Generation Leadership means at Barnes & Noble College and how our culture contributes to the success of our company and the schools we serve.

“People” and “service” – two very simple words by themselves. But together they describe everything that Barnes & Noble College represents. From successful relationships with our campus partners to informed knowledge about what customers want and need, we’re dedicated to going above and beyond to deliver unsurpassed customer experiences.

We also embrace diversity and this value is reflected in our work environment and actions. We’re constantly seeking unique backgrounds and perspectives through our hiring process. We want to provide a rich, rewarding work environment for everyone, regardless of race, color, gender, national origin, age, sexual orientation or culture. We’re an equal opportunity employer and are committed to providing fair, competitive wages and benefits for all our employees. In fact, Barnes & Noble was awarded the Corporate Equality Index Award for the fifth year in a row, receiving top marks for their treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) employees and consumers.

Fair Labor Standards

Barnes & Noble College is also committed to fair labor standards and has been recognized as an industry leader in the effort to eliminate sweatshops used to produce college apparel. We are a member of the Fair Labor Association (FLA) and since 1998, we have required ALL vendors who supply products to our stores to adopt the FLA’s Code of Conduct. This Code of Conduct requires strict adherence to workers’ rights.
