Barnes & Noble to Speak at 2012 NACAS Annual Conference

Barnes & Noble College will sponsor and exhibit at the upcoming 44th Annual Conference of the National Association of College Auxiliary Services (NACAS) in Atlanta, Georgia. The meeting will take place at the Hyatt Regency from October 28-31.

The NACAS Annual Conference enables the association’s higher education members and business partners to jointly explore trends and advancements in non-academic campus services. Barnes & Noble College will join over 150 exhibitors at the networking forum, demonstrating its products and services for NACAS members from 700 U.S. and 70 international institutions.

Educational Sessions

In addition to exhibiting, Barnes & Noble College will proudly participate in the conference’s educational sessions. Chosen for demonstrated abilities as auxiliary service professionals, Barnes & Noble College will contribute to the following five sessions:

  • Transformation of the Textbook Market: Where Are We Headed? 
    Jade Roth, Vice President of Books & Digital Strategy, will sit on a panel moderated by retired Georgia Tech Vice President for Campus Services Rosalind Meyers. The group will discuss best practices for schools in the evolving area of buying and selling textbooks.
  • Student Employees: From Student Leader to Bestseller Program
    Director of Learning & Development Pamela Bonnell will join Ron Portwine, Saginaw Valley Associate Vice President for Administration & Business Affairs, for this session. The two will discuss Barnes & Noble’s Bestseller Program, designed to recruit talented student workers and prepare them for management careers at our campus bookstores.
  • Social Media: Social Commerce – Integrating Facebook with Online Shopping
    This session will examine how integration of social networking and bookstore management maximizes consumer loyalty and revenue. Manager of Consumer & New Media Marketing Tamara Vostok will speak along with Kris Ruiz, Associate Vice President of Marketing & Communications at Sam Houston State University.
  • Market Research: What College Students Want
    Brian Stark, Vice President of Campus Stores, and Rob Hailey, Tulane University’s Senior Associate Vice President of University Services, will discuss today’s college students. Utilizing the results of a recent Barnes & Noble survey, the team will examine student attitudes towards social media and commerce.
  • Communicating and Collaborating with Faculty: Building an Educational Resource Center
    Jade Roth, Vice President of Books & Digital Strategy, will share the stage with Bruce Covey, Emory University’s Bookstore Liaison, to discuss opportunities and tools for streamlining the faculty adoption process. The two will present options for improving communication and resources through innovation.
