Fresh Look for Barnes & Noble College e-Commerce Sites

December 20, 2011

Website ScreenshotBarnes & Noble College unveiled a sleek look and feel for over 630 college and university bookstore eCommerce websites earlier today. The new design, which extends to every page of each site, marries a strong focus on our affordable textbook choice program with on-trend general merchandise products to deliver a dynamic user experience for the students, faculty and alumni we serve.

“Our eCommerce site refresh is in direct response to the shift we see in how students and faculty interact with our bookstores,” said Max J. Roberts, president of Barnes & Noble College. “Barnes & Noble has stayed on top of those changes and leads the way in designing the best, most user-friendly and cutting-edge eCommerce websites available.”

The refreshed websites feature:

  • Dynamic Hero Shots – Rich, campus-specific shots continuously scroll on the home page intertwined with current promotions
  • Spotlight Ads – Larger, more visible Spotlight Ads promote high demand products providing a strong call to action for visitors
  • Textbook Options – Bold, bright textbook option icons below the hero shot link for faster, easier ordering and information.

As before, students can shop for used, digital, rental and new textbooks, as well as emblematic apparel and gift items from the bookstore’s website using a single shopping cart using an expanded range of payment options including PayPal and B&N gift cards.

In addition, our 550 campus bookstore Facebook pages are fully integrated with the respective bookstore website, creating a seamless social shopping experience and expanding the company’s social media and communication capabilities
