Florida A&M Renovates University Bookstore

September 08, 2011

Following a major renovation over the summer break, the Florida A&M University Bookstore has reopened in time for the start of the fall semester.

Interior Renovations Show Rattler Pride

Located in the beautiful Student Services Center at 601 Gamble Street, Tallahassee, Florida, the bookstore now includes an expanded convenience food section, gifts, Rattler Shop for FAMU clothing, and unmatched textbook options – all at the best prices.

Along with installing new fixtures, flooring, countertops, and lighting, the renovations have incorporated the FAMU school colors – orange and green – into the design of the bookstore along with images and accents that evoke the proud history of the university.

“The expansion of the convenience area has been very popular,” said bookstore manager Angela Williams. “Everyone that has come into our store loves the new look and we’re thrilled that we can offer our students more of what they want and need, right here on our campus.”

“Your Choice” in Textbooks

The Florida A&M bookstore is now a true full-service operation, offering its students “your choice” in textbook options that include new, used, rental and digital books. Students will also have the option to order textbooks online – at any time – from the FAMU bookstore website.

Choosing digital textbooks can also save students even more money. In addition to offering savings of up to 60 percent over new printed books, Barnes & Noble’s revolutionary Nook Study™application delivers eTextbooks in an engaging format that enhances the overall learning experience. Plus, NOOK Study is a free download that will work on computers that students already own (PC and Mac). No extra costs or new equipment is needed.

FAMU Bookstore is Connected

The Florida A&M bookstore has its own locally managed Facebook page and will have access to FourSquare promotions and student focused blog, the CollegeJuice.com. Additionally, students will benefit from the latest innovation in online shopping known as social commerce, which allows students to shop for books, clothing, or school merchandise directly from the bookstores’ Facebook page.

Barnes & Noble has proudly managed the Florida A&M bookstore for over 26 years. We operate more than 630 campus bookstores across the United States for such prestigious institutions as Harvard, Yale, the University of Pennsylvania, Indiana University, and Georgia Tech, including 29 in the state of Florida.

We promise unmatched retail excellence and deliver the next-generation of educational content. Is your bookstore a Barnes & Noble College bookstore? Visit bncollege.com to see a listing of our newest college partners.
