Barnes & Noble College scored a home run when it recently teamed up with the Baseball Prospectus Team on Twitter. The Baseball Prospectus Team, an elite team of baseball analysts, included Editor-in-Chief Steven Goldman, co-founder Christina Kahrl, and writers Kevin Goldstein, and Jay Jaffe. Together they shared their perspective on the upcoming 2011 season and answered questions from fans about America’s favorite past time.
In just the first 30 minutes almost 200 tweets came in from baseball enthusiasts across the country. Our followers asked great questions about the upcoming baseball season and ten lucky participants were given a copy of the latest 2011 Baseball Prospectus.
Barnes & Noble College uses social media to connect with our customers and deliver an engaging and student-focused online experience. In addition to the Baseball Prospectus Twitter Party, we’ve hosted Twitterviews with Dancing With the Stars Cheryl Burke, Bravo television star Tabatha Coffey and Comedy Central’s Michael Showalter. We’ve also expanded our social media marketing by partnering with Foursquare, which has a unique ability to attract customers to brick-and-mortar retail locations. These new initiatives help us to continue to build our social media presence and connect with students, faculty and the entire campus community.
