Barnes & Noble College is pleased to announce our new partnership with Pikeville College. Founded in 1889, Pikeville College is a private, four-year liberal arts and sciences college offering associate and undergraduate degree programs, as well as one professional program.
Barnes & Noble will begin managing the formerly self-operated Pikeville College Bookstore on June 1, 2011. The 4,800-square-foot facility is conveniently located directly across from the school’s main campus and has ample free parking. Students, alumni, and Bears’ fans will enjoy the latest in Pikeville College apparel, gifts, and school supplies, as well as the many textbook options that Barnes & Noble College offers.
“It has been such a pleasure to meet the campus community at Pikeville College,” said Marcia Stewart, regional manager for Barnes & Noble College. “They have welcomed us with open arms and have already offered us so much support in the early stages of the bookstore transition. This is going to be a wonderful partnership and we look forward to taking their bookstore to a whole new level with rental and digital textbook offerings.”
Initially there will be minor changes to the interior of the current bookstore with the addition of all new textbook, supply, clothing, and gift fixtures. However, bigger changes will take place in approximately two years when the bookstore moves to a larger facility located on campus.
Barnes & Noble’s arrival isn’t the only change coming to Pikeville. The Pikeville College Board of Trustees, by unanimous decision, agreed to change the name of Pikeville College to the University of Pikeville, or UPike for short, effective July 1.
Barnes & Noble College operates more than 630 college bookstores across the country, with 34 in the state of Kentucky, including at the University of Louisville, Thomas More College, and at the campuses of KCTCS.
