Bravo television’s outspoken, no-nonsense star Tabatha Coffey “took over” Twitter on January 27, with a Twitterview (a realtime interview via Twitter.com), hosted by Barnes & Noble College. The star of Tabatha’s Salon Takeover answered questions from fans about hair, her television show, and her book, It’s Not About the Hair: The Honest Truth About Life, Love and the Business of Beauty. The event was so popular, Coffey extended the Twitterview by an extra hour, garnering more than 300 tweets. Signed copies of her new book were also given away to twenty lucky participants.
This is just the latest example of how Barnes & Noble College uses social media to connect with customers and deliver an engaging and student-focused online experience.
“Students like this format because it gives them instant access to the authors they love,” said Tamara Vostok, Social Media Project Manager for Barnes & Noble College. “It gives you that one-on-one conversation. It’s fun to tweet a celebrity and have them tweet you right back.”
In addition to Twitter, our extensive use of social media includes more than 500 Facebook pages where students share and comment on campus life and the collegiate experience.
We will again be welcoming Tabatha Coffey – in person this time – when she “takes over” the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) Bookstore with an appearance and book signing on February 10, from 4 – 6 p.m., ET.
